My boyfriend and I dated for about a year before we broke up and I moved away. When we started talking again we found out that we still had feelings for eachother so he moved to where I am and we moved into our own apartment.
Now I am starting to have second thoughts. He says he has changed and although I do see it I find myself being mean to him like he deserves it. We fight all the time about stupid things (which i know goes along with moving in together). But I am to the point where I dont know if I would be happier living alone. He is messy and I feel like his mother taking care of him. Hes lazy and I think he has cooked once since we moved in. Last month when I asked him for rent money he almost threw a fit because he had to give up half his pay check. (Our rent is $450 EACH btw...) I just dont know what to do...when we fight I feel like I don't want to be with him anymore...then even when we are fine later on I am left doubting our situation. How do you know when you are ready to break up with somone? And how do you break up with someone when they are in a new city and have no where else to go? Should I send him packing? How do you know when you really want to break up with someone?
I think when people start picking fights it is generally because they want the other person to break up with them, so they don't have to do it. It is not necessarily on a conscious level, it can be subconscious. It is often because it is easier to have someone break up with us, then feel like the 'bad' one for initiating the break-up. Hope that makes sense!
It doesn't seem like the relationship is working, maybe you need to discuss things seriously, If you decide to break up, maybe let him live with you until he finds a place, and help him look for one.
